Those crazy NoVans

So Herndon won't approve a property tax increase to extend Metrorail through Tyson's to Dulles and Reston. Why? Hurt feelings.

Frankly, I don't understand most people from Northern Virginia. Most are either antitax nutjobs who wonder why they sit in traffic for three hours a day or they're addicted to the so-called safety of their massive residential compounds, too afraid to venture into the city. Then there are the nice ones, who are few, far between, and usually spend their time on my side of the Potomac, where I meet them.

That being said, there are three (and only three) reasons to go to NoVa.

1. Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse
2. Trader Joe's sells beer and wine
3. Dixie Bones BBQ in Woodbridge.

Best Buy and Ikea used to be on that list, but since other branches opened in Tenleytown and College Park respectively, there's no need to plunge into the gray sprawling morass.

Gah, enough with the trash talking, buddy. I was just in D.C. Saturday night. We met friends at a restaurant called Penang, near Foggy Bottom.

I don't appreciate being linked into your shallow generalizations about Northern Virginia, none of which apply to me.

Damn, can't we all just get along? I'm an avid reader of both sites and a some-time contributor to this one, why can't we just agree to focus our ire elsewhere, there are so many worthy causes. School vouchers in DC, the Washington Times, baltimore?

Oh, and another reason to go to NoVa: Old Town

None of which apply to you? You have an entire blog dedicated to complaining about a place you don't live and seldom visit!

...and you don't have comments on your site, so I have to bitch you out here.

Um, Chris. What did Baltimore do to deserve your ire? As I'm sure you can understand, I'm not really a big fan of being lumped with school vouchers or the Moonie rag. I'm sooo offended.;)

Penang, which has very good Malysian food, is three blocks south of the Dupont Circle metro. It's at least a 15 minute walk from Foggy Bottom and, if you're taking the blue line train, would be the farragut west stop, not foggy bottom.

Suburbanites; what can you do?
