Department of Lunch

The Oculus has the lowdown on the best cafeterias in D.C. They're right about the Senate (it sucks) and the Supreme Court (pretty good). One addition: the Hirshhorn Gallery serves up some pretty good chow, but it's expensive. They also have about a bazillion kinds of gelato.

I disagree with you about the summer-only Hirshhorn cafe. The tunnel between the east and west wings of the National Gallery is where you'll find the best museum cafeteria. Lots of gelato there.

Agreed. The NG sculpture garden is also good and decently-priced (a bit pricey for regular usage, though)

Actually, I think I was thinking of the NG cafeteria. So many museums, so little brain space dedicated to telling one from the other.
