RFK: Not just for baseball and soccer anymore
DCist says that HFStival is back, sans radio station, of course. The line-up:
"Billy Idol
Unwritten Law
Social Distortion
NY Dolls
Sum 41
The Bravery
Interpol
Muse
Garbage"
As in the New York Dolls, that long-gone proto-punk band? Strange. But I'll pay good money for Garbage, The Bravery, Interpol (Featuring Carlos D #7) and Billy Idol.
Perhaps this year's incarnation may actually be better than HFStivals past when the station was on the air. Freed from an ever-tightening playlist, teen agro acts like P.O.D., New Found Glory and Papa Roach have been jettisoned. Like many bands (Sex Pistols come to mind) HFS is better now that its gone.

Oh, but HFS does still exist, just in internet form...
"Infinity Broadcasting brought back the legendary WHFS Rock brand Friday with the launch of WHFS.com, a 24-hour radio station available on the Web and through the AOL Radio Network. WHFS.com is the Viacom-owned radio group's first Internet-only radio station."

A webcast is not a radio station. That's non-negociable.

"HFS" is also on 105.7 weekends and evenings. Its a Baltimore station, but I can pick it up down here. And oddly enough, its better than before; they're playing good older stuff again.

ah, hfstival memories. i first saw interpol at an HFStival, but back then they were on the side stage out in the parking lot. pretty funny, watching them sweat in their black suits. and i saw garbage for the first time at the 1996 festival -- they were amazing. i'm psyched for billy idol!

The HFStival is at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore not RFK in DC. And HFS is still on the air 105.7's new call letters are WHFS, and therefore making it a full time station and all the DJ's at the station refer to it as HFS. So just because they play music only on nights and weekends, doesnt make it a part time station.
