Soundsystem v. Soundsystem
One of the things that gave me the slightest pause about leaving D.C. to go to Miami (probably the only thing) was the LCD Soundsystem/M.I.A. show at the 9:30 Club. Michael reports that while M.I.A. was the hotness as expected, James Murphy and crew had some rather annoying technical problems.
I think it may be bad luck to name my future band "R.J. and the Non-Broken Guitar Strings."

the technical difficulties didn't spoil the show for me at all. M.I.A.'s lame attempt at a political statement *almost* ticked me off, but then she saved herself with her bad-ass rhymes. it was the best show i've seen in awhile -- and you know that's true when 3/4 of a packed 9:30 club is actually dancing -- i mean REALLY dancing!

I want M.I.A. inside of me.

yeah, the guitar/soundsystem problems weren't a detraction from the radness of the show. i had a damn good time.

M.I.A. was definitely awesome, as expected. her rhymin and stylin is insane. i've never seen the 9:30 club that hoppin. Her outfit was a lil strange - like a onesie made by a Jamiacan street urchin. Anyway, I was less impressed by LCD. can't they afford an extra bass to bring on the road??!!?
